Christian Code Words

Is there a covert message to Christians in Huckabee's speeches? Busplunge picked up on the hidden text and posted some interesting links.

So if it is true, then is it bad? Busplunge makes reference to Senator Obama using code words and phrases to speak to different populations. Is it ok for him to address two groups at a time? Are we using a different standard of acceptability for a Democrat over a Republican or is it because one is speaking to a religious group? I guess I don't get the big deal unless the code is for something dastardly. I don't have a decoder ring but if he is telling me to drink more Ovaltine then maybe I would get mad but if it is that he is spending time praying, good for him.

Correction: It was not Busplunge that made the comment about Senator Obama using code but rather one of his links: Cosmic Variance.

Larry: That very point is discussed in the links. The fact that Dems do this too was also made. It is not a Dem-v-Rep thing. No double standard. Just a mention that he does it too.

I don't know why it would be wrong for him to do this. He's talking to his core without sounding like it. It might be a bit disingenuous but that is typical politics. They all choose their words depending on the group they are speaking to at the moment.

I just thought it was interesting.

I suppose there could be some theological discussion about a Christian having to talk in code about God, but that is another matter altogether.

But there is a big deal being made of this by the left. It is like they think he is plotting some evil with his "secret code". None of the posts I have seen have a headline with "Senator Obama has secret code for African Americans" or even "Both parties using code to give message to core." All of the headlines are about Huckabee speaking in codes to the Religious Right. Even your headline was about "Christian Code Words" and not political code words. It seems like a big deal for Huckabee but not for Obama. It appears to be a double standard to me.
