YOU CAN MEET THE BLOGGERS AND WATCH SARAH PALIN, TOO

Regarding the blogger's meeting on Thursday night, I am going to go to Patton Alley closer to 6 p.m. if anyone wants to join me early. That way I can have more time with you crazy typists. I am busting out at 7:45 p.m. so I can see the historic Vice Presidential debate. Come on and admit it. You are more interested in that debate than you are watching Obama and McCain. I know I am.

So don't think me bad for calling a meeting then leaving early. Feel free to do the same. Thusly, I am revising the meeting time to 6 p.m. but you can come and go as you please.

Don't stay home Thursday night. You can come to the blogger's meet up and watch the debate.

I wonder if there will be a webcast? I'd just as soon bring a laptop and watch with a cold beer and good company.

I thought we would watch the debate as a group.

Since I am on late shift and will not be able to be at the pub until 8:00 pm, I will not make it this time. Let me know when the next one is so I can delegate you to put it together for me.

Larry,

LOL. Nice one. I loved that.

Perhaps we can all watch it together. If it's being streamed on the web or if it is on TV. I'd be willing to stay if that works out.

Bus,

Glad the wheels go round and round.

Don't expect Gwen Ifill to be unbiased during this one. She is gambling on making a lot of money on the book she is currently making on an Obama win. She stands to make some money if he loses but probably an incredible amount if he wins. The book is expected to go on sale January 20, 2009 - Inauguration Day. PBS funded by Government monies should have professionally unbiased reporters but she stands beside Bill Moyer with their disdain for conservatives. Watch her expression as she descibes Palin's speech at the convention:

Hey, ANON 12:05 PM, about this Ifill attack:
It's straight out of Rove. Attack the debate moderator. The best that can happen from the Rove-Schmidt point of view is that Ifill softens her questions to Palin out of fear of being smeared by the McCain camp, as they have tried to smear me and any other journalist doing their job. The worst is that Ifill does not get intimidated, asks tough questions, and then gets the post-debate spin by the GOP focused on her, not Palin. It helps too that Ifill is black: it shores up the racist vote McCain needs to win.

Why not ask Couric instead? Or Campbell Brown? It should be a woman. And removing Ifill will only help black turnout. But I really miss Tim Russert right now, don't you?

Yes, I believe Russert would be an interesting moderator. At least less apparent impropriety. Why not try a lively debate with someone such as Hannity or George Will. They may not leave wiggle room and non-specific answers. As far as an attack on Ifill. This is not based on a fabricated issue. The mistake was that the McCain campaign did not use the simple Google or whatever search and lodge their protests earlier than the day before the election. That is where the questionable motives lie. The smears are the part of the process to bring out the truths because unfortunately all (again all) candidates will posture, as in chess,to try to hide their deficiencies. There would be no purpose to request your political affiliations, because it will be a supportive and defensive role either way, which is healthy for our system of government. Besides, if a journalist were truly objective then they would all reject their own prejudices. If not, then they are partisan supporters. Please note the use of the subjunctive to leave the discussion open-ended and not inject my affiliations.

You won't have to dash out of the meeting early. There appear to be many webcast options: http://newteevee.com/2008/10/01/where-to-watch-the-palin-biden-debate-online/

Bring you laptops!

Andy,

Shouldn't that read:

"Bring, you laptops!"

...and who are you calling a laptop, anyway???
